We all like to spend time in parks because they are important elements in a city. Are they just the extra advantage of a great neighborhood or is it imperative for individuals to be able to interact with Nature in such spaces. Parks are of paramount importance in any community or city and have a weighty impact on the happiness of everyone in the locale. Parks are important due to the following reasons.

  • ·    Even a small rise in the number of trees in the neighborhood can reduce the heat effect. A combination of increased park spaces and green areas can reduce summer temperatures by 1-5ºC.

    ·    Park spaces are a great place in the neighborhood for interaction of residents with each other and to meet new folks. This is a perfect place for community communication and to engage in sporting activities.

    ·    A small increase in the number of trees can erase various pollutants from the air that increase certain cancers and respiratory problems

    ·    They are a great place to improve an individual’s mental health, thus reducing stress and increasing happiness. Research proves that even ten minutes in a park can reduce stress and one feels restored.

    ·    They are a great place for physical activity and popular sports where individuals can get active. This reduces many health problems linked to obesity, heart disease and many more.

    ·   A great place for parents to connect with kids and for children to make new mates in the neighborhood. Also helps them to focus better by connecting with Nature.

    ·  Green spaces around your locality provide a boom to your property value and also increase municipal revenue.

    ·    Parks provide natural habitats for many animals and birds thus maintaining the natural ecosystem.

In a recent reinforcement in Noida, the authority has planned to refurbish 200 parks in the city to expand the green cover. As per Noida authority there are prevailing 507 parks in the city, out of which 200 are not properly developed. Amongst these 37 are vacant plots that have been marked off to develop into parks, but are yet to be cultivated into green spaces. Major work to restore these into beautiful green spaces has been assigned to the horticulture department and soon Noida will become the “City of Greens”.
